Google & Microsoft are competing in AI strategy & cloud computing, highly lucrative market.
Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are planning a major AI offensive and have many ideas for Google search engine, e.g. a chatbot search and new AI products for 2023.
Microsoft is investing $10 billion in OpenAI with a total value of $29 billion with ChatGPT, a chatbot that uses AI to answer diverse questions. The app has reached 1 mn users in a week.
Why is Microsoft investing so much money into a research laboratory consisting of the non-profit OpenAI Incorporated and its for-profit subsidiary corporation OpenAI Limited Partnership?
The big potential of OpenAI lies in the ability to generate new algorithms that provide creative content & emulate creativity.
Microsoft with ChatGPT can compete with Google search.
🎙️ Google dominates with a 91,9% shares as of January and 8.5 billion daily searches.
🎙️ Google's revenue amounted to 256.7 billion U.S. dollars, largely made up by advertising, which amounted to 209.49 billion U.S. dollars in 2021.
Microsoft is working on of its Bing search engine that uses ChatGPT.
Google does not provide the answer but references via links and charge$ whereas ChatGPT's outcome is the humanlike an$wer.
Microsoft wants to integrate OpenAI into much of its software.
WHAT IS OPENAI?
OpenAI develops and promotes friendly AI for the benefits of all humanity.
David Chalmers, a philosopher, described GPT-3 as "one of the most interesting and important AI systems ever produced."
The New York Times described GPT-3's capabilities as being able to write original prose with fluency equivalent to that of a human.
Samantha Lock, The Guardian, noted that it was able to generate "impressively detailed" and "human-like" text.
In the mission statement we see:
“We believe the development of general-purpose artificial intelligence that benefits all of humanity must be carried out with a knowledge of and respect for the different perspectives and experiences that represent the full spectrum of humanity.”
THINK ABOUT THAT:

#2 The one who poses this technology becomes the very powerful man in the world because friendly AI refers to hypothetical artificial general intelligence (AGI) that ‘CAN’ have a positive effect on humanity and not necessarily ‘MUST’ have.
There is a huge difference between ‘CAN’ vs ‘MUST’, especially in a hypothetical contest.
